Though Marie Antoinette, was absolutely oblivious of the expense of a cake in comparison to a loaf of bread. Without her ignorance, French pâtisseries would have no humor. There is always a serious air when it comes to making elegant European cakes. They hold their traditions close to heart and are very prideful of it’s origin. American cakes are more versatile and requires more height (think Ace of Cakes VS Tamasin Day Lewis) Needless to say, learning traditional gâteaux and American cakes is delightful.
