Football for the amateur viewers

Never had i once been interested in football or soccer, as the Americans regard it. But since the FIFA season started, my friend has been updating me with countless information and conversations about how she felt about the games. Switzerland VS Spain’s match yesterday was pretty emotional. Swiss success was a surprise to the world but we all know, Spain is better at cooking Paella than the Swiss for sure. USA VS UK was quite political too. Asking “where do you stand ?” didn’t quite make the cut. I’m always torn between supporting the two large nation. The British take their tea seriously but football is their game. Don’t steal it from them.

So last Tuesday, the girls decided to watch Brazil and North Korea together. We baked Chocolate Chai cupcakes with Mango icing topped with blue sugar sprinkles to match the Brazilian flag.

They even made Matcha Ginger sorbet!

The first half of the game was pretty boring. Watching 22 men running for a ball still wasn’t my cup of tea but, it wasn’t until the last 30 minutes that the Brazilians finally pick up their game. Gradually, the energy in the room intensifies. First goal was an exuberance; second was a expected; third from Korea was a disappointed towards the Brazilians (considering the screen kept on showing Brazil’s rank on the world cup as 1st and N. Korea as 105th).

I have to admit, football is very, influential.

Some people believe that football is a matter of life and death. I can assure you that, it is much more important than that.
Bill Shankly.
