Pier del Sol 2011

October 10, 2011 § Leave a comment

Sleeping in on a gorgeous sunny Sunday is perhaps not the best excuse here. Not when it had been rather wet and cold the past week. With great honor of being invited to Pier del sol, a private fundraiser at the Pier, I had the opportunity to met many generous chefs and socialites supporting the Special Olympics Southern California.

The main purpose was to raise social awareness and financial support for Special Olympics athletes. Along with silent auction, face painting, music, dancing, endless rides and abundant amount of food, the vibe from kind crowd was simply dynamic. Though everyone swarmed towards the food section and indulge in delicate food prepared by some of LA best restaurants, there were space for fun activities for everyone. Food was handmade by JiRaffe, Melisse, Providence, Real Food Daily, Spago, Red O etc.

There were many desserts and pastries around but Comme Ca’s pastry chef, Ramon Perez did a magnificent work with dessert shots. There was a layer of milk chocolate, lemon jello, ice cream and crushed cookie. (Pardon me, as I might have missed off a few exact ingredients!) But that didn’t stop many of us from trying out other vendors. The little ballerina below actually told her mum to keep the chocolate croissant away from her as she took her second serving!

A heartfelt occasion fulfilled by honorable people and compassionate attendants.
