when I was younger

I was the last to open up all my presents. I was the little girl sitting at the edge of a big red sofa, beside a cosy fire place with a roaring flame, gently unwrapping my gifts and sipping hot chocolate. Everyone would be perfectly tipsy and done unwrapping. The lovely texture of festive papers always seem to amuse me. I kept those wrapping papers and gifts for years until I was ready to use them.

As I reminisce the scent of sweet oak, cloves, rosebuds and hints of orange potpourri in this cloudy Christmas morning, little surprises arrived in my mailbox .

Lovely Ly, who is on a month’s hiatus traveling around Australia, post one of her handmade marvels. Fool Magazine, an outstanding Swedish food magazine arrived just in the nick of time for the festive season.

Today, I find time to read. Soaking in every ounce of passionate knowledge in culinary pursuits. Reliving kitchen life, reflecting personal virtues and feeling optimistic for new chapters. For the kitchen crew working over the holidays, thank you for being awesome! Those long hours are gruesome but will pay off, one day. Till that day comes, be original to the food you serve.

Beauty in things exists in the mind which comtemplates them.
– David Hume.
